An in-company, live-streamed course in the basic skills required to conduct hearing tests on adults, primarily within general practice and health assessment organisations.
Via a live video link-up, students will undertake tuition and practice in conducting audiometry, analysing results and managing various elements that can affect the accuracy of hearing test results.
While many audiometric testers have received “over-the-shoulder” training at work this often results in limited accuracy and confidence that test is being done well. By contrast, a US research study revealed that formal training produces accuracy, competence and confidence in practitioners. In turn, this can enhance the quality and reputation of individual practitioners and businesses.
Through a combination of live-stream lectures and hands-on exercises, the Virtual Audiometry Workshop teaches students best practice methods and skills, designed to enhance confidence and competence in hearing testing.
The workshop is primarily aimed at medical and occupational health practitioners who are looking for basic skills and knowledge as well as increased confidence when conducting audiometry.
Participation in the Virtual Audiometry Workshop can earn up to 8 CPD points.
Course content is drawn from several sources including Australian Standard 1269.4, Codes of Practice and university-qualified audiologists with over 20 years clinical and teaching experience.
Students will gain basic skills and knowledge in numerous aspects, including:
The Virtual Audiometry Workshop is taught to small groups of 2-4 people. This allows our teachers to engage students in one-on-one, hands-on practical sessions and individually tailor development of key skills.
